Calling All Students!!

What can the PPA offer students?

Interested in entering the Community Service Sector? Unsure how or where to start? Maybe you are searching to gain experience and finding it difficult to connect with relevant organisations in our sector or getting your foot in the door, then let the PPA help you today!

If you are in High School, University, Tafe, College, or have just graduated and are interested in entering the Community Service Sector; the PPA wants to help you in your personal and professional development. The PPA is aware of the importance of equipping the next generation of employees and ensuring you are provided with adequate support along the way.

Gaining Practical Experience

Getting first hand experience can be difficult, especially without prior experience working within the sector. Students within the PPA receive assistance in accessing the workforce, with internships and placements, as well as temporary, contracted, full and part-time employment. By gaining further knowledge and hands on experience, students are able to segue into the Community Services Sector connecting them to service providers and organisations of their choice.

The PPA has partnered with organisations such as Aftercare, one of Australia’s leading Mental Health Non-Profit Organisations. Students within the PPA are able to utilise such partnerships and may be eligible to receive voluntary placement opportunities allowing them to receive hands on training across a variety of mental health services. The PPA may ultimately be able to facilitate other opportunities with our partners and members across the sector.

Connecting with the Community Service Sector

The PPA provides a unique opportunity for students to join an emerging community of practice in the health, human services and community sectors. Students are able to create a profile visible to various employers and organisations within the sectors, enabling them to share their experience, interests and skills. Students in the PPA are able to have “a place to go” and a unified hub of support allowing them to feel supported along their pathway to a career in helping others.

Personal and Professional Development

By joining the PPA students will have access to Attribution Tools, developed to assist them to plan their learning and career pathway. The first Attribution Tool we have developed caters to the Mental Health Support Worker role; tools that are currently under development tailor specifically to other sectors and roles. These tools are able to identify areas for growth, and learning and connects students to training courses available within the PPA.

Recognition for Prior Learning

Students in the PPA may also be eligible to receive recognition of prior learning they have completed to contribute towards a certification or qualification. The PPA has partnered with organisations such as, Get Qualified and Exemplar Global, which allow students to gain nationally recognised certifications within the PPA.

So what are you waiting for, it’s free to join. Take control of your future.
